South Island New Zealand - Dunedin to Invercargill - the last leg

Monday, February 15

Time to say good bye to our new friends and be on our way. But before we leave Dunedin, we have one very important stop to make: Larnach Castle.

Nannette has been here before and her camera is practically the same model as my dead one, so I'm able to borrow hers and put my memory card in it.

Below is the link where you can read up about the history of this amazing castle.

It is a real treat to find such a gem in the Southern Hemisphere, and so beautifully restored.

The views from the tower are really fabulous. It's obvious why this particular spot was chosen for the castle.

The extensive gardens are incredibly beautiful. I can't get enough of it all.

This rather large hedge is holly!

Leaving Larnach Castle, we travel along the ridge of the peninsula and take in the views as we procee.

As we travel along the coast to Invercargill, the weather starts to change and by the time we get there, it is raining steadily and feels quite chilly. Apparently, it has been like this all day.

We have a pub meal before we drive out to our digs for the last night.

Tuesday, February 16

Good bye New Zealand.
